3-2-12: LOCATION RESTRICTIONS:
No license shall be issued for the sale at retail of any alcoholic liquor within one hundred feet (100') of any church, school, hospital, home for aged or indigent persons or for veterans, their surviving spouses or children, or any military or naval station; provided, that this prohibition shall not apply to hotels offering restaurant service, regularly organized clubs, or to restaurants, food shops or other places where sale of alcoholic liquors is not the principal business carried on, if such place of business so exempted shall have been established for such purposes prior to the taking effect of this Chapter; nor to the renewal of a license for the sale at retail of alcoholic liquor on premises within one hundred feet (100') of any church or school where such church or school has been established within such one hundred feet (100') since the issuance of the original license. No alcoholic liquor, other than beer shall be sold for consumption on the premises within one thousand five hundred feet (1,500') from any building used for regular classroom or laboratory instruction on the main campus of any State university owned or maintained, in whole or in part, by the State of Illinois; provided, this prohibition shall not apply: a) to a place of business which sells beer but does not sell any other alcoholic liquor and was established and operated prior to August 7, 1963; or b) to premises owned or controlled by any State university and used as a faculty center or an airport.
