7-1-4: CONSTRUCTION PERMIT REQUIREMENTS:
   A.   Permit Required: It shall be unlawful to construct or lay any pavement on any public street, sidewalk, alley, or other public way, or to repair the same, or to construct any driveway or change or remove any curbing, without having first secured a permit and received permission from the superintendent of public works therefor. (2006 Code § 8-1-5; amd. 2016 Code)
   B.   Application For Permit; Fee: Applications for such permits shall be made to the city clerk, on a form prescribed by the corporate authorities and prepared by the city clerk, and shall be accompanied by payment of a fee of twenty dollars ($20.00) for each application, which fee is not returnable. The application shall state the location of the intended pavement, driveway, or repair, the extent thereof, and the person or firm who is to do the actual construction work. (2006 Code § 8-1-5)
   C.   Bond Required: Each applicant shall file a bond in an amount to be determined, and surety to be approved, by the superintendent of public works, conditioned to indemnify the city for any loss or damage resulting from the work undertaken or the manner of doing the same. The superintendent shall consult with the city engineer prior to making such determination and approval. (2006 Code § 8-1-7)
   D.   Approval And Issuance Of Permit: No permit shall be issued until approved by the superintendent of public works, who may require further information or other material as a condition precedent to the issuance of a permit. (2006 Code § 8-1-6)
