(A) The Town Parks and Recreation Department shall consist of the Recreation Director and as many employees of the Recreation Department as the Town Manager shall from time to time determine, and as many volunteer assistants as the Town Manager may deem necessary, in his or her judgment, to appoint for special purposes.
(B) The Town Manager shall have general control of the Parks and Recreation Department, and may at any time for cause, suspend from employment any member of the Parks and Recreation Department.

It is the duty of the Parks and Recreation Department to establish and conduct a system of supervised recreation that will provide activities that are diversionary in character and aid in promoting entertainment, pleasure, relaxation, instruction and other physical, mental and cultural development and leisure time experiences for the citizens of the town.

RECREATION DEPARTMENT ADVISORY BOARD
(A) (1) The Advisory Board shall consist of seven members. In making the appointment, the Board should ensure that the diversity of the community is represented on the Advisory Board taking into consideration gender, age and racial characteristics of the town community, as well as making sure that appointees live within the corporate limits or extraterritorial jurisdiction of the town.
(2) Members shall be appointed for terms of three years with terms expiring on June 30. Appointments to the Board shall be staggered so that no more than three members’ terms will expire in the same year. They shall serve until the expiration of their terms or until their successors have been appointed. The members shall serve without compensation. Vacancies in the Commission shall be filled by appointment of the Board of Commissioners. There will be no term limits for those serving on the Parks and Recreation Advisory Board.
(B) The Parks and Recreation Advisory Board, at its first meeting, shall appoint from among its members a Chairperson and other officers as may be deemed proper for the conduct of its business and shall adopt rules and regulations to govern its procedures.
