163.20 PURCHASE OF POLICE SERVICE REVOLVER.
   (a)   Each sworn police person who has served for a period of twenty-five years and who retires after such service after September 19, 1979, shall be given, by way of compensation for such service, the right to purchase his/her service revolver from the City for the sum of one dollar ($1.00).
   (b)   Each sworn police person who has completed fifteen years of service, and who then is accorded disability retirement from the Police Department after January 1, 1980, shall have the option to purchase his/her service revolver from the City in lieu of compensation for the amount of one dollar ($1.00).

   (c)   Any of the sworn police persons above who have had a history of mental disorder or disease may be refused the option to purchase their service revolver by the Chief of Police; but the Chief of Police, on written request of the wife or husband of the police person, an adult child of the police person or an adult grandchild, may sell to the member of the family so requesting the service revolver of the sworn police officer for the amount of one dollar ($1.00) the receiving relative of the police person being required to give assurance that the service revolver will be used in a safe manner.
