163.06 LIQUIDATION OF SICK LEAVE AT TERMINATION OF EMPLOYMENT.
Employees of the City shall be entitled, at the time of termination of employment with the City, to liquidate in cash thirty-five percent (35%) of the value of the employee’s accrued but unused sick leave at the employee’s current hourly rate of pay at the time of termination, except that employees of the Fire Department scheduled on a fifty-one hour work week who have accumulated unused sick leave while so scheduled, shall be entitled to liquidate at the rate of pay as above described at termination thirty-five percent (35%) of the accumulated but unused sick leave at the rate of seventeen and two-tenths hours for each twenty-four hours of unused sick leave accumulated.
Payment for sick leave on this basis shall be considered to eliminate all sick leave credit accrued and accumulated by the employee at that time.
The Fire Department shall maintain separate records for purposes of accumulation and accumulation for liquidation and shall, at the end of each calendar year or upon termination or transfer, whichever occurs first, reduce the accumulation for purposes of liquidation in compliance with the above-described formula.
