141.01 POLICE RADIO SERVICE.
   (a)   Establishment. The City Police Department shall operate a police radio service on such FM (frequency modulated) radio frequencies and utilizing such FM radio equipment as may be authorized by the Federal Communications Commission, and in compliance with the rules and regulations promulgated by the Commission. The Police Chief shall have complete authority over the police radio service.
   The police radio engineer and the police radio technician shall be responsible for the installation, maintenance and repair of City police radio equipment.
   (b)   Metropolitan Radio District. The Police Chief is authorized to enroll the Police Department in a regional law enforcement police communication system, prescribed by the Department of Economic and Community Development Office of Criminal Justice Services.
   (c)   State Radio District. The Police Chief is authorized to enroll the Police Department in a State-wide law enforcement police communication system prescribed by the Department of Economic and Community Development Office of Criminal Justice Services.
   (d)   Centralized Police Communication Service. The Police Chief is authorized to provide centralized police radio service to any full-time law enforcement agency located in the geographic area surrounding the City, in a district prescribed by the Department of Economic and Community Development Office of Criminal Justice Services.
   Such service shall be subject to a service agreement negotiated in the normal manner.
   For the purpose of this section, "full-time law enforcement agency" means one employing five or more law enforcement agents on full-time basis. (Ord. 83277. Passed 3-22-72.)
   (e)   Suspension of Service. In case of the radio service suspension, the Police Chief shall serve written notice to the municipality involved sixty days in advance before suspending service. (1967 Code §35.07)
