785.12 DRIVER TO REMAIN IN DRIVER'S SEAT.

The chauffeur or driver of any taxicab or automobile for hire shall remain on the driver's seat inside his vehicle at all times when the vehicle is standing upon the public streets. Nothing in this section shall be held to prohibit the driver from alighting to the street or sidewalk for the purpose of assisting a passenger into or out of such vehicle. (1967 Code §117.12)
