785.01 DEFINITIONS.
   (a) "Taxicab" means a vehicle used in carrying passengers for hire, the rate for which is computed by the distance traveled and which follows no fixed or prescribed route or schedule.
   (b) "Taxicab driver" means a person who drives or operates a motor-driven conveyance which performs service similar to the cab or hackney carriage, held for hire at designated places, for a fare proportioned to the length of the trips of the several passengers to be carried to destinations without regard to any route adopted or uniformly conformed to by the operator.
   (c) "Taximeter" means any instrument or device, attached to a vehicle, designed or intended mechanically to measure and record the distance traveled, the time such vehicle is in waiting and the amount of extras, upon which record the fare to be charged shall be indicated, by figures or designs.    (d) "Motorcycle" means every motor vehicle, other than a tractor, having a saddle for the use of the operator and designed to travel on not more than three wheels in contact with the ground, including but not limited to, motor vehicles known as "motor-driven cycle", "motor scooter" or "motorcycle" without regard to weight or brake horsepower.
