547.11 MEMBERSHIP; APPOINTMENT; TERM.
The Commission shall consist of no less than five members and no more than ten members all of whom shall be residents of the City. the members of the Human Relations Commission shall be appointed by the Mayor, and shall serve a term of four years. In making such appointments, the Mayor shall, insofar as practicable, insure that all areas of the City are represented in substantially equal proportions. No person serving upon the Commission at the time this section is enacted shall be required to resign. A chairperson and a vice-chairperson shall be elected by the members of the Human Relations Commission at the first regular meeting in February, following the elected term of office. The chairperson and vice-chairperson shall serve as such for a two year term. Members of the Commission may be reappointed to a second two year term as chairperson or vice chairperson. Members of the Human Relations Commission may be reappointed to a second four year term, but may not be reappointed thereto after such second term until after a one year absence from the Commission.
