525.16 STOP AND FRISK.
   Any police officer may stop any person in any public place when the police officer has reasonable grounds to believe that the person is committing, has committed or is about to commit a crime, and may demand of the person his name, address and an explanation of his actions. When a police officer has stopped a person for questioning pursuant to this section and reasonably suspects that the police officer or any other person is in danger of life or limb, the police officer may search the person for a dangerous weapon. If the police officer finds such a weapon, or any other thing, the possession of which may constitute a crime, the police officer may take and keep the article until the completion of the questioning, at which time the police officer shall either return the article if lawfully possessed, or arrest the person.
