If a permit is issued, the Board or the Director of Public Works is hereby authorized to limit the number of trips, or to establish seasonal or other time limitations within which the vehicles described may be operated on the highways indicated, or otherwise to limit or prescribe the conditions of operation of the vehicles when necessary to prevent interference with the orderly flow of traffic and to assure against undue damage to road foundations, surfaces, or structures, and may require an undertaking or other security as may be deemed necessary to protect the highways and bridges from injury or to provide indemnity for any injuries resulting from the operation of such vehicles.
