§ 32.010 MEMBERSHIP TERMINATION.
   Except as otherwise provided in this subchapter, any member who leaves the employ of the city for any reason, except his or her retirement or death shall thereupon cease to be a member and his or her credited service at the time shall be forfeited by him or her. If he or she is reemployed by the city in a position covered by the retirement system, he or she shall again become a member of the system. If his or her reemployment occurs within a period of five years from and after the date he or she last left city employment, his or her credited service last forfeited by him or her shall be restored to his or her credit upon his or her return to the Annuity Savings Fund the amount, if any, he or she withdrew therefrom, together with regular interest from the date of withdrawal to the date of repayment. The requirement for repayment of withdrawn accumulated contributions to restore forfeited credited service shall not apply to accumulated contributions withdrawn from the Annuity Savings Fund in accordance with the provisions of § 32.023(B) of this chapter. Upon a member’s retirement or death, he or she shall thereupon cease to be a member.
