11-5-8: OVERWEIGHT VEHICLES:
   A.   Adoption Of State Of Illinois Vehicle Classification: The village hereby adopts the classifications and registration of trucks, truck-tractors, trailers, semitrailers and commercial buses as established by the state law for the purposes of this section. (Ord. 93-16, 8-3-1993)
   B.   Weight Restrictions:
      1.   General Restriction: It shall be unlawful to drive on any street, any motor vehicle with a weight, including load, in excess of that permitted by the state traffic law for driving on improved highways or with weight distributed in a manner not conforming to such law.
      2.   Vehicles In Excess Of Seven Thousand Pounds Restricted To Designated Truck Routes: It is unlawful to operate any vehicle in excess of seven thousand (7,000) pounds, or any vehicle with a registered weight greater than seven thousand (7,000) pounds pursuant to the Illinois vehicle code, on any street in a residentially zoned area subject to the following exceptions:
         a.   Pick Up And Delivery Vehicles: Vehicles not exceeding seventy three thousand two hundred eighty one (73,281) pounds may be operated for the purpose of making a pick up, delivery, and/or to provide services, or successive pick ups, deliveries and/or services, but not for purposes of peddling or soliciting; provided however, vehicles may only leave a truck route to make pick ups, deliveries or to provide services by use of a direct route from the point on the truck route closest to the pick up, delivery or service location. When a vehicle making or providing successive pick ups, deliveries and/or services, the vehicle must then utilize nonresidential street(s) until reaching the next point on a nonresidential street closest to the next delivery or service location.
         b.   Other Vehicles:
Buses.
Implements of husbandry.
Owner operated vehicles, but only to the extent such vehicle is operated to and from the owner-operator's residence over a direct route to and from the closest point on the nearest truck route.
Snow removal vehicles engaged in snow removal functions on private property or under contract with the city.
Tow trucks.
Vehicles engaged in the collection and removal of garbage or refuse.
Vehicles owned and operated by governmental agencies.
Vehicles owned and operated by private utilities.
Vehicles registered and used as recreational vehicles.
      3.   Specific Street Weight Restrictions: It shall be unlawful for any person to drive, operate or park any truck, truck- tractor, trailer, semitrailer, commercial bus or other similar motor vehicle upon 115th Street or upon 107th Street from Harlem to Ridgeland within the village where the gross weight of such vehicle exceeds seven thousand (7,000) pounds.    C.   Prima Facie Evidence: The registration plate issued by the Illinois secretary of state shall be prima facie evidence of the weight of the vehicle.
   D.   Penalties:
      1.   State Of Illinois Registration Plate: Any person violating the weight restriction established by this section shall be fined in accordance with the following table. Any penalty established hereby shall increase as shown below, paid within ten (10) days of the issuance of a citation or complaint.

      2.   Out Of State Registration Plate: Any person violating the weight restriction established by this section where the vehicle displays an out of state registration plate shall be fined in a sum of not less than two hundred dollars ($200.00) nor more than five hundred dollars ($500.00). Any fine established hereby shall increase by one hundred dollars ($100.00) if not paid within ten (10) days of the issuance of a citation or complaint. (Ord. 93-16, 8-3-1993)
