1-6-1: OATH AND BOND OF OFFICERS:
   A.   Oath:
      1.   All officers of the Village, whether elected or appointed shall, before entering upon the duties of their respective offices, file their official bonds and take and subscribe to the following oath or affirmation:
I do solemnly swear (or affirm, as the case may be) that I will support the Constitution of the United States and the Constitution of the State of Illinois and that I will faithfully discharge the duties of the office of                  according to the best of my ability.
      2.   The oath or affirmation shall be filed in the Office of the Village Clerk. (1970 Code §2.1)
   B.   Execution Of Bond, Sureties:
      1.   The bond of each officer shall be executed by the Village with a surety conditioned for the faithful performance of the duties of his office and the proper payment to the proper officers of all monies coming into his hands by virtue of his office. The sums stated in such justification on the bond of any officer shall, in the aggregate, amount to the penalty of such bond.
      2.   Any surety company licensed to carry on business in Illinois may be accepted by the President and Board of Trustees as surety on such bond. Individual sureties will not be accepted.
      3.   The execution of the bond shall be acknowledged by the officer and his surety before some person authorized to take acknowledgment of deeds and a certificate of acknowledgment made thereon. After approval of the bond by the President and Board of Trustees, the Clerk shall endorse thereon the date of approval and file the same.
      4.   The premium on such bond shall be paid by the Village. (1970 Code §2.2)
   C.   Bond Schedule: The amounts of the official bonds required by this section shall be as follows:

Provided, however, that if the same individual serves as Village Clerk and Village Collector 2 , a bond in the amount provided for either office shall be sufficient in amount for both offices. (Ord. 2017-38, 12-5-2017)
