1-4-1: GENERAL PENALTY:
   A.   General Penalty: Whenever in this Code or in any ordinance of the Village any act is prohibited or is made or declared to be unlawful or an offense, or whenever in such Code or ordinance the doing of any act is required or the failure to do any act is declared to be unlawful, where no specific penalty is provided therefor, the violation of any such provision of this Code or any ordinance shall be punished by a fine not exceeding the maximum amount permitted by law. Each day any violation of any provision of this Code or of any ordinance shall continue shall constitute a separate offense. The Village may retain attorneys and private collection agents for the purpose of collecting any default in payment of any fine or penalty or installment of that fine or penalty. Any fees or costs incurred by the Village with respect to attorneys or private collection agents retained by the Village under this section shall be charged to the offender. (Ord. 2018-05, 6-5-2018)
   B.   Place Of Confinement: Any Judge of any court of competent jurisdiction convicting any person under the provisions of this Code or any other ordinance of this Village may send such person to the house of corrections or confine such person in the Village Jail or County Jail. Said person may be credited for time served in accordance with State law. (Ord. 81-1, 1-20-1981; amd. 1995 Code)
