A. The commission shall serve only in an advisory capacity to the Woodstock city council and shall comply with all applicable provisions of Illinois state statutes and this code and shall have the following.
B. Specific duties of the commission shall be:
1. To evaluate all phases of the performing arts, art exhibits, lectures and cultural activities in connection with the utilization of the Woodstock Opera House Community Center and Stage Left Cafe.
2. To assist, in an advisory capacity, the opera house director, in the promotion and use of the Opera House Community Center and Stage Left Cafe for recreational, artistic and educational purposes.
3. To prepare a written report to the city council at the end of each calendar year and in cooperation with the opera house director evaluating the programs and policies governing the use of the Woodstock Opera House Community Center and Stage Left Cafe. This shall be prepared by taking into consideration how the various programs in the facilities relate to other such commercial and educational programs in surrounding areas.
4. To recommend to the city council at the end of each calendar year and in cooperation with the opera house director necessary short and long term capital expenditures, capital improvements and other facility needs of the Opera House Community Center and Stage Left Cafe.
5. To promote and facilitate interaction among organizations and groups who utilize the facilities of the Opera House Community Center and Stage Left Cafe.
6. To consider, evaluate and make recommendations pertaining to any Opera House Community Center and Stage Left Cafe issue at the request of the Woodstock city council. (Ord. 08-O-68, 11-4-2008; amd. Ord. 15-O-62, 10-6-2015)
