2.2.4: POWERS AND DUTIES:
   A.   The board shall serve only in an advisory capacity to the Woodstock city council and shall comply with all applicable provisions of Illinois state statutes and this code.
   B.   Specific duties of the board shall be limited to providing for the safety and welfare of residents through safe, quality building construction and building code enforcement in the city of Woodstock by:
      1.   Assisting the building and zoning officers of the city in interpreting the specific ordinances for which they are responsible.
      2.   Recommending to the city council amendments to building codes and relevant city ordinances as may, from time to time, be appropriate.
      3.   Considering applications for and the results of new materials and methods testing. (Ord. 08-0-68, 11-4-2008)
      4.   Preparing and disseminating educational materials regarding city building codes and inspection procedures. The board shall not, however, have the authority to consider appeals of orders, decisions, or determinations regarding noncompliance with the city's building codes, the issuance of citations for building code violations, or the adjudication of such violations.
      5.   Fostering communication between the public and city regarding ongoing activities of the board.
      6.   Arranging and conducting any form of publicity relative to its activities for the general purpose of increasing public understanding. (Ord. 08-0-68, 11-4-2008; amd. Ord. 09-0-24, 4-21-2009, eff. 5-1-2009)
