The regulations of the 2004 edition of the Illinois state plumbing code, published by the Illinois department of public health, are hereby adopted by reference as though fully set forth herein, as the regulations governing the installation and maintenance of any plumbing, drains or sewers, in any premises within the city with the following exceptions and amendments:
Section 890.520, first paragraph, last sentence is amended to read "Residential garages with floor drains shall have a gas and oil interceptor."
Section 890.920(a), second sentence, is amended to read "Vertical piping and stacks shall be supported at not less than every story height and at its base."
Section 890, appendix A, table A, Approved Materials For Water Distribution Pipe, is amended by deleting reference to items 2, 5, 7 and 9, and by adding the following: "Copper, when used under floors or ground, shall be type K."
Section 890, appendix A, table A, Approved Materials For Water Service Pipe, is amended by deleting reference to items 1, 2, 3, 4, 7, 8, 9, 10, 11 and 13, and by adding the following: "Copper pipe shall be type K."
Section 890, appendix A, table A, Approved Materials For Building Sewer, is amended by adding the following: "Polyvinyl chloride (PVC) pipe, schedule 40 minimum, or equivalent is required. Cleanouts shall be provided at the first connection beyond the exterior of the building."
Section 890.1200(a), second sentence, is amended to read "In no case shall a water service line be less than one inch in diameter."
Section 890.1200(a), fourth sentence, is amended to read "At the time of making a tap for a new service to replace an existing service, the existing service shall be shut off or capped at the corporation stop."
Section 890.1310(b), is amended by adding the following: "Corrosive waste, including that generated by appliances, which is directed into the sanitary sewer system shall be neutralized prior to entering said system."
It shall be unlawful to install any plumbing, sewers or drains in the city in violation of, or without complying with, these regulations. Copies of the Illinois state plumbing code shall be kept on file in community and economic development department for public inspection. (Ord. 10-O-51, 11-16-2010)
