The following are amendments to the National Electrical Code, as adopted in § 1424.01:
NEC 230-24. Clearances is hereby amended by omitting the exceptions to the required 8-foot clearance. The 8-foot clearance is mandatory.
NEC 240-50. General is hereby amended by adding the following:
(f) Low Amperage Plug Fuses. Plug fuses 30 amperes or less in size shall be of the nontamperable type.
NEC 380-11. Circuit Breakers as Switches is hereby amended to read as follows:
A circuit breaker operable directly by applying the hand to a lever or handle may serve as a switch, provided that one operation of the handle will simultaneously disconnect all ungrounded conductors.
NEC 384-16. Overcurrent Protection is hereby amended by changing division (b) to read as follows:
(b) Snap Switches Rated at 30 Amperes or Less. Panelboards equipped with snap switches rated at 30 amperes or less shall have overcurrent protection not in excess of 225 amperes.
NEC 517.15. shall be added to read as follows:
517.15. Operating Room Wiring. The wiring in and safeguards for hospital operating rooms shall be in accordance with the National Board of Fire Underwriters recommended “Safe Practice for Hospital Operating Rooms,” N.B.F.U. No. 56, July, 1962.
