7-1-2: SIDEWALK CONSTRUCTION:
   A.   Permission To Construct Required:
      1.   No person shall build any sidewalk in the village without first having obtained permission to do so from the village president, and all sidewalks shall be constructed in accordance with the "Standard Specifications For Road And Bridge Construction", latest revision as adopted by the Illinois department of transportation. (Ord. 3, 5-26-1921; amd. 1994 Code)
      2.   Any person who shall violate this section shall, upon conviction thereof, be fined not less than five dollars ($5.00) and not more than twenty five dollars ($25.00). (Ord. 3, 5-26-1921)
   B.   Construction Specifications: All sidewalks hereinafter constructed upon the streets and avenues in the village shall be constructed according to the following specifications:
      1.   Sidewalks shall be constructed in conformance to section 624 of the most recent edition of the "Standard Specifications For Road And Bridge Construction" as adopted by the Illinois department of transportation.
      2.   Sidewalks shall be five feet (5') wide and a minimum five inches (5") thick.
      3.   Sidewalks shall be constructed with a minimum three inch (3") thick aggregate base with a CA-6 gradation.
      4.   All newly constructed sidewalks shall be provided with concrete approach ramps at all intersections.
      5.   All sidewalks shall be constructed at a uniform slope of two percent (2%) from curb side (or street side) to the property side. (1994 Code)
   C.   Unlawfully Constructed Sidewalks: Any sidewalk that may have been constructed in violation of the standard specifications referred to in subsection A1 of this section shall be condemned and removed or altered by an order of the president and board of trustees at the expense of the person who may have unlawfully so constructed it.
