4-4-1: DEFINITIONS:
For the purposes of this chapter, the following definitions shall apply:
ANNOYING: Disturbing or irritating, especially by repeated acts. Implies a wearing on the nerves by persistent unpleasantness.
CONTINUOUS: Continuing indefinitely in time without interruption or recurring in steady, rapid succession.
DAYTIME HOURS: The local time of day between the hours of seven o'clock (7:00) A.M. and ten o'clock (10:00) P.M. Monday through Friday and eight o'clock (8:00) A.M. to ten o'clock (10:00) P.M. on Saturday, Sunday and holidays.
DISTURB: To destroy the tranquility or composure of.
ENDANGER: To bring into peril or create a dangerous situation.
EXCESSIVE: Going beyond a normal limit to an amount or degree too great to be reasonable or acceptable.
IMPULSIVE: Of short duration, usually less than one second, with an abrupt onset and rapid decay.
INJURE: The inflicting of anything detrimental to one's comfort or health.
LOUD: Marked by above normal or obtrusive intensity or volume.
NIGHTTIME HOURS: Any time of day which has not been defined herein as "daytime hours".
REPETITIVE: An act or instance which occurs again and again.
SOUND POLLUTION: Any sound which endangers or injures the safety or health of humans or animals; or annoys or disturbs a reasonable person of normal sensitivities; or unreasonably interferes with the enjoyment of life or with any lawful business or activity; or that exceeds the applicable maximum permissible sound levels as they appear in this chapter.
