13-1-2: ALTERNATIVE PENALTY:
   A.   Any person, pursuant to the issuance of a uniform complaint ticket, who is accused of a violation of any of the Illinois Vehicle Code offenses listed in section 13-1-3 of this chapter except a traffic offense for which a court appearance is required pursuant to rule 551 of the Illinois Supreme Court Rules, may settle and compromise that ticket by paying a reduced rate to the Village of Winfield a sum of sixty dollars ($60.00) within fourteen (14) days from the date such alleged violation was committed or by paying to the Village the sum of ninety dollars ($90.00) subsequent to said fourteen (14) day period and prior to thirty (30) days thereafter.    B.   The alternative penalty settlement procedure shall be in lieu of instituting a prosecution in court for the alleged offense. If the person accused of the violation does not settle the claim, the uniform traffic complaint or complaint and notice to appear will be processed for that violation, and that person shall be subject to the penalties which are set forth within this Code.
