5-3-11: PROOF OF OWNERSHIP; APPEAL; REDEMPTION AFTER SALE:
Any person claiming to be the owner of any impounded property as in this Chapter provided, shall make written application therefor to the Lewis County Sheriff Department and shall furnish to said Department such additional proof as may be required to establish said ownership. If he shall present to said Department said proof of his ownership of said impounded property prior to the date of actual sale thereof pursuant to the provisions of this Chapter, then the property itself delivered to said owner under the conditions herein provided; but if said property has been sold, then said department shall endorse its findings of ownership with a copy of the written application addressed to the Clerk, and said owner may present said application and findings to said Clerk, and if presented within one year after said sale, then such balance of the proceeds of sale, after deductions as in this Chapter provided, shall be paid to said owner.
Any appeal from the removal, storage and publications costs, if any, assessed by the Lewis County Sheriff's Department as provided in this chapter shall be in the same manner as provided by law.
