SECTION 5.2. DIRECTOR OF PUBLIC SAFETY.
   The Director of Public Safety shall be appointed by the Mayor, subject to confirmation by a majority vote of the members of Council. He or she may be removed from office by the Mayor, but such removal shall not take place without the concurrence of five (5) of the members of Council; provided, however, that if the Mayor acts as Safety Director, the Council may, by a vote of five (5) of its members, remove him as such Safety Director. The Director of Public Safety shall be the head of the Division of Police, Division of Fire, Division of Building Engineering and Inspection, and Division of Health. He or she shall make all necessary rules and regulations for the government of the Department of Public Safety and the several divisions thereof, and he or she shall be charged with the duty of enforcing all police, health, safety and sanitary regulations that may be prescribed by ordinances or rules of the Municipality or the general laws of the State of Ohio. The Director of Public Safety shall perform such other duties, consistent with his or her office, as may be required by this Charter, by ordinance of the Council, or as directed by the Mayor.
