All water, sewer and gas pipes, etc., shall be properly bedded (0.D. pipe plus two-feet wide and twelve inches above top of pipe using bedding materials of gravel No. 8, 57 or 65 in accordance with Table 703-1 of the ODOT specifications.) All excavations in the travelled portion of public streets and alleys shall be first filled and tamped with clean coarse gravel to the street level and made passable for traffic, and as soon as practicable thereafter the surface of the highway shall be repaired as provided in Section 901.04. In grass plots or nontraffic locations, the trench may be filled with the earth or material removed and then tamped. All coarse or lumpy earth shall be pulverized before placing it in the trench. All grass plots shall be replaced to their original condition.
