§ 131.06 POSTING OF SIGNS PROHIBITING THE CARRYING OF CONCEALED WEAPONS ON CERTAIN MUNICIPAL PROPERTY.
   (A)   Posting of sign required in buildings and appurtenant premises. The Town Manager of the Town of Wilkesboro is hereby authorized and instructed to post conspicuous signage at appropriate locations on or within each building or portion of a building owned, leased as lessee, operated, occupied, managed, or controlled by the Town of Wilkesboro, as well as the appurtenant premises to such buildings and operations, indicating that carrying a concealed handgun is prohibited.
   (B)   Posting of sign required in recreation facilities.
      (1)   The Town Manager of the Town of Wilkesboro is hereby authorized and instructed to post conspicuous signage at appropriate locations on or within each facility or portion of a facility owned, leased as lessee, operated, occupied, managed, or controlled by the Town of Wilkesboro, as well as the appurtenant premises to such facilities and operations, indicating that carrying a concealed handgun is prohibited. Recreational facility is defined to include athletic fields, swimming pools, and facilities used for athletic events.
      (2)   Signs indicating that carrying a concealed handgun is prohibited at outdoor athletic facilities may only be enforced during an organized athletic event that has been scheduled with the Town of Wilkesboro.
      (3)   Appendix A, which is attached to Ordinance 2020-05 and incorporated herein by reference as if set out in full, includes all properties and parts thereof that are impacted by this division (B).
   (C)   Location of signs. Signs on buildings shall be visibly posted on the exterior of each entrance by which the general public can access the building or facility. The Town Manager of the Town of Wilkesboro shall exercise discretion in determining the number and appropriate locations of signs to be placed on or within appurtenant premises.
