The Animal Control Officer or any police officer may take into custody any dog found at large within the city, and shall impound the dog in the city shelter or other such place as may be designated for purposes of impoundment to keep and properly care for all dogs impounded. Such impounded dog shall be held for a period of three days. At the end of this time, if the dog has not been claimed as prescribed in § 90.061 and the proper fee paid as set forth in Appendix 1, Fee Schedule, § 4.00, the dog shall be transferred to the City of Sherman Animal Control or the dog shall be released for adoption or humanely destroyed.
