161.32 EQUAL EMPLOYMENT COMPLIANCE POLICY.
   (a)   It shall be the policy of the City to ensure equal opportunity, including, but not limited to recruitment, hiring, placement, promotion, compensation and training. The City will not discriminate against any qualified person because of race, color, religion, sex, national origin, age, marital status, sexual orientation, disability or veteran status.

   (b)   All department heads are responsible for making a personal commitment to practice and enforce the principles of this policy as follows:
      (1)   Recruit, hire, train and promote for all job descriptions without regard to race, color, religion, sex, national origin, age, marital status, sexual preference, handicap, or veteran status except where age, sex, or handicap is a bona fide occupational qualification.
      (2)   Base decisions on employment so as to further the principle of equal employment opportunity.
      (3)   Ensure that promotion decisions are in accord with the principles of equal employment opportunity by imposing only valid requirements for promotional opportunities. (Ord. 104-93. Passed 12-21-93.)
      (4)   Ensure that all personnel actions such as compensation, transfers and layoffs will be administered without regard to race, sex, color, religion, age, national origin, marital status, sexual orientation, disability or veteran status. (Ord. 076-2011. Passed 12-20-11.)
