183.08 ADDITIONAL LEVY.
(a) Such additional tax shall be at the rate of five dollars ($5.00) for a total rate of thirty dollars ($30.00) per motor vehicle on each and every motor vehicle in the district of registration, in this case being the City of Whitehall, Ohio.
(b) As used in this section, the term “motor vehicle” means any and all vehicles included within the definition of motor vehicle in 4501.01 and 4505.02 of the Ohio Revised Code.
(c) The additional tax imposed by this section shall apply to and be in effect for the registration year January 1, 2021 and shall continue in effect and application during each registration year thereafter.
(d) The tax imposed by this section shall be paid to the Registrar of Motor Vehicles of the State of Ohio or to a Deputy Registrar at the time of application for registration of a motor vehicle is made as provided in Section 4503.10 of the Ohio Revised Code.
(e) All monies derived from the tax hereinbefore levied shall be used by the City of Whitehall for the purposes specified in this section, and more particularly as defined as:
(1) Uses of the Revenues. The revenues are to be used for the following purposes: planning, construction, improving, maintaining, and repairing bridges and viaducts; paying the municipal corporation’s portion of the costs and expenses of cooperating with the department of transportation in planning, improvement, and construction of state highways; paying the municipal corporation’s portion of the compensation, damages, cost and expenses of planning, constructing, reconstructing, improving, maintaining, and repairing roads and streets; paying any costs apportioned to the municipal corporation under Section 4907.47 of the Revised Code; paying debt service charges on notes or bonds of the municipal corporation issued for such purposes; purchasing, erecting, and maintaining street and traffic signs and markers; purchasing, erecting and maintaining traffic lights and signals.
(f) All monies derived from the tax hereinbefore levied shall be deposited in the Street Maintenance and Repair Fund.
(g) The Clerk of this Council is directed and authorized to forward a certified copy of Ordinance 154-2019 to the Bureau of Motor Vehicles immediately in order to effect such collections beginning in 2021. (Ord. 154-2019. Passed 12-3-19.)
