757.02 RECORDS, IDENTIFICATION REQUIRED.
(a) Every pawnbroker shall keep and use proper books and forms in which shall be legibly written in the English language, at the time each purchase or loan is made, an accurate description of the goods, articles or things deposited, including the serial number, and any other identifying characteristics; the time and date of pledging or selling the same, the amount of money loaned thereon or paid therefor, the rate of interest and charges to be paid on such loan, the time within which such pawn is to be redeemed, and the amount of any repurchase price; and the name, date of birth, place of residence, a short description of the appearance of the pledgor or seller and his or her social security number, driver's license number and auto registration tag number, if such exist. When any watch is pledged or sold, he shall also write in such book the number of the movement, the number of the case and the name of the maker thereof. Where jewelry, gold or silver articles of any kind are pledged or sold, the pawnbroker shall write in such book all identifying letters or marks inscribed thereon. No entry in such record book or form shall be erased, obliterated or defaced. Every entry shall be numbered consecutively, commencing with the number one. All of the requirements of this section shall apply to the purchase of precious metals or jewels as specified in Section 757.01.
(b) The dealer shall require each person from whom he purchases any of the articles or things of this chapter, to present two articles or pieces of identification. The dealer shall record all identification numbers and physical descriptions as contained on such identification articles or items. Whenever the dealer has reason to know or believe the pledgor or seller is under eighteen years of age, he shall require that person to produce sufficient articles of identification to establish his age.
