6-2-18: ELECTRIC OR ELECTRONIC PET CONTAINMENT SYSTEMS:
   A.   Definitions: For the purpose of this section, the definition of "electric or electronic pet containment system", as set forth in section 6-2-1 of this chapter, shall apply unless the context clearly indicates or requires a different meaning.
   B.   Compliance Required: Every electric or electronic pet containment system constructed, installed and maintained hereafter shall comply with all applicable provisions of this section.
   C.   Location Of System: Electric or electronic pet containment systems shall be a permitted accessory use in any residence district, provided that it conforms with this section and other applicable ordinances of the Village, including the zoning ordinance. Electric or electronic pet containment systems shall be permitted in the front, rear and corner side yard of a property only if it is to be located at a distance not less than six feet (6') from said property line. If the fence is proposed for any property line (such as side or rear) which abuts a public sidewalk, the electric or electronic pet containment systems shall be located at a distance not less than six feet (6') from the sidewalk.
   D.   Permit Required: It shall be unlawful to proceed with construction, installation, enlargement or alteration of any electric or electronic pet containment system within the Village unless permits therefor shall have first been obtained from the Community Development Department.
   E.   Drawings And Plans:
      1.   All specifications, drawings and plans for the construction, installation, enlargement or alteration of any electric or electronic pet containment system for which a permit is required shall first be presented to the Building Commissioner for examination and approval as to proper location, construction and use.
      2.   All plans and drawings shall be drawn to a scale of not less than one-eighth (1/8) of an inch to the foot, on paper or cloth, in ink, or by some process that will not fade or obliterate. All distances and dimensions shall be accurately figured and drawings made explicit and complete, showing the lot lines and including information pertaining to the electric or electronic pet containment system, and all appurtenances thereto.
      3.   All electric or electronic pet containment systems shall be constructed in conformity with the approved plans. If any deviations from such plans are desired, a supplementary plan covering that portion of the work involved shall be filed for approval and shall conform to the provisions of this section.
   F.   Signs:
      1.   For any property on which an electric or electronic pet containment system has been installed within the front yard of the property, the presence of the system shall be indicated by the placement of no less than two (2) signs on the property, with one sign to be located at each corner of the front yard or corner side or rear yard property line. Such signs shall be located in such a manner that they are able to be read from the front yard or corner side parkway. Any signs required by this subsection shall measure no more than one square foot in area. Any signs required by this subsection shall not require a separate permit under any other provision of the Village's ordinances, including the zoning ordinance.
      2.   If a property has a front yard measuring greater than sixty six feet (66') in length, an additional sign indicating the presence of an electric or electronic pet containment system shall be required, to be located near the middle of the front yard property line.
   G.   Permit Fees: The fee for a permit for the construction, installation, alteration or enlargement of an electric or electronic pet containment system shall be twenty five dollars ($25.00). (Ord. 12-2665, 3-26-2012)
