(1) Fill out and sign a utility application (residential or commercial accordingly);
(2) Provide a copy of the deed or rental agreement;
(3) Present a valid driver’s license or state/federal issue photo ID. A copy shall be made and placed with the utility application. If the account is a joint account, a copy of both applicants’ driver’s license or state/federal issue photo IDs will be required;
(4) Provide a signature on all applications. If requesting a joint account, both applicants must sign the application. Any signature not signed in front of a WPWA employee must be notarized;
(5) Pay required deposits in full; and
(6) File applications and copies thereof in the utility office.
(B) Existing customer moving to a new address.
(1) To move an existing connection to another address, existing customers shall:
(a) Complete a new application, along with new rental agreement or deed; and
(b) Pay a transfer fee of $50 and bring the deposit to current rate.
(2) As long as the existing customer is turning off the service of the old property within three business days, the deposit shall be transferred to the new account.
(3) If the existing customer wishes to keep the old service on longer, he or she required to put up a new deposit on the new account. The deposit on the old account will be applied to the final bill and any credit refunded once the service is closed out.
(C) Change of address or other contact information. If a customer wishes to change the information on he or she account, such as phone number and/or mailing address:
(1) If the customer calls in:
(a) The customer will be asked for the account number;
(b) If the customer does not know or have the account number, the customer will be asked for the name the account is under;
(c) The customer will be asked questions regarding the account that would not be found in a lost or stolen wallet, such as last payment amount on the account or the last billed amount, any co-applicant listed on the account, as well as identifying information, such as a Social Security number; and
(d) Once confident with the identification of the caller, the changes will be made to the account.
(2) If the request is received in the mail:
(a) The signature on the letter will be verified against the signature on the application, or the customer is contacted utilizing the contact information on record; and
(b) Once verified, the changes will be made to the account.
