Any police officer may obtain the rank of Captain, Lieutenant, Sergeant, or Corporal provided that the officer meets the tenure requirements as set forth in Section 135.07 of this Article and achieves a passing grade of seventy percent (70%) or higher on the IPMA standard police test or on a written examination provided by another national organization providing test programs for Police Civil Service Commission Members. Provided however, that no written examination shall be required for advancement to the rank of Captain if all other requirements have been met. (Ord. 2012-2-2. Passed 3-13-12.)
