6.08.060: RABIES VACCINATION:
No license shall be issued for any dog or cat owned, kept, possessed, harbored or allowed to remain in and upon the premises of any person under his or her control unless such dog or cat has first been vaccinated against rabies by a qualified veterinarian or his designee. As a prerequisite to the issuance of a dog or cat license, there shall be delivered to the animal control department or an authorized licensing veterinarian a certificate showing that the animal has been properly vaccinated against rabies and giving the date and place of vaccination. Upon presentation of proper evidence and payment of the fee as provided for in section 6.08.050 of this chapter the animal control department is authorized to issue a license and metal tag, which tag shall be attached to the collar of the licensed dog or cat and the removal of the tag shall be an offense and a violation of this chapter if not immediately replaced with a current issue.
