§ 35.41 FIRE DEPARTMENT.
   (A)   In the Fire Department, there shall be one Fire Chief compensated under the compensation range PM-7 as set forth in § 35.47 of this chapter and one Assistant Fire Chief compensated under compensation range PM-5 as set forth in § 35.47 of this chapter. There shall be 16 full-time Firefighter/Paramedic/ Inspectors, one Fire Administrative Assistant compensated under compensation range C-7 as set forth in § 35.47 of this chapter, and one part-time Equipment Maintenance Person, who shall be compensated under compensation range L-2 as set forth in § 35.47 of this chapter. Not to exceed two additional Firefighter/Paramedic/Inspectors may be employed, provided they are in training to replace Firefighter/Paramedic/Inspectors who have separated employment, committed to retire, or to replace Firefighter/Paramedic/Inspectors who will be promoted to Chief or Assistant Chief due to the Chief and/or Assistant Chief's commitment to retire or separate.
   (B)   Each full-time Firefighter/Paramedic/ Inspector in the Fire Department shall be compensated and provided other benefits in accordance with the existing collective bargaining agreements as authorized by ordinance.
   (C)   Compensation for volunteer fire supervision shall be as follows:

Volunteer Fire and EMS employees may also be eligible for a performance-based merit wage increase at the discretion of the Appointing Authority.
   (E)   For fire and EMS runs, volunteer fire and EMS personnel shall receive a minimum of three hours of pay whether or not the full three hours is actually worked. After the initial three hours have been worked, hourly compensation pro-rated every quarter hour after the initial hour of service.
   (F)   Employees who serve in a dual capacity in both the volunteer fire service and EMS service shall receive the hourly rate of pay that corresponds with the job duty being performed. However, should a volunteer employee serve in both capacities (i.e., Fire and EMS) on a specific call or station fill shift, the employee shall be compensated at the higher of the two pay levels, as approved by a supervisor.
   (G)   Employees in the fire service who are designated as officers (i.e., Captain and Lieutenant) shall only receive officer compensation, Pay Level 5, when performing fire training and fire duties.
   (H)   Volunteer employees shall be promoted to the next higher level of certification effective with the date of receipt of the documentation evidencing the completion of all certification requirements.
   (I)   Employees who work during weekend hours shall receive a $2 per hour shift differential in addition to their regular hourly compensation. For the purposes of this policy, weekend hours are defined as Friday 5:30 p.m. through Monday 7:30 a.m.
