§ 34.049 SPECIAL/PART-TIME POLICE OFFICERS.
   The Mayor, on special occasions, when in his or her judgment for public peace and order of the city shall require, appoint and commission any number of special or part-time police officers, as many as may be necessary, and shall fix, in the order of his or her appointment, the time during which each shall serve, and all such special or part-time police officers, during such time, possess the powers and exercise the duties of regular police patrolmen; provided that their appointment, if for more than ten days, shall be subject to the consent of the City Council, in the manner that other appointments to office by the Mayor are subject.
