9-1-7: MAIN CONSTRUCTION AND REQUIREMENTS; COSTS:
   A.   Size Of Drain: No sewer service shall be less than four inches (4") in diameter and no sewer main shall be less than eight inches (8") in diameter. All sewer services and mains shall be of adequate size to convey and allow free and entire passage of such materials that enter or should enter the same.
   B.   Supervision: The design and construction of all sewer mains will be accomplished under the supervision of the public works department. Repair, replacement or other modifications to sewer services shall be accomplished under the supervision and direction of the public works department.
   C.   Laying Of Pipe: Sewer connections shall be made of good, sound materials and shall be installed according to the most recent state plumbing codes and the Montana public works standards. Sewer services and mains are to be inspected and approved by the public works department prior to burial. Such inspections will include, but not be limited to, trenching procedures, pipe materials, bedding and backfilling procedures, proper grade design, pipe connections, manhole construction, pressure testing and surface restoration.
   D.   Safety: All excavations for building sewer installation shall be adequately guarded with barricades and lights so as to protect the public from hazard. Streets, sidewalks, parkways and other public property disturbed in the course of the work shall be restored in a manner satisfactory to the town. The customer, at the customer's expense, is responsible for the excavation from the point of intended use to the main and restoration of the surface to acceptable condition, all of which shall be done in strict compliance with any ordinance, resolution or regulation of the town governing excavations in streets and alleys. Failure to do so may be cause for discontinuance of service. The customer, at the customer's expense, shall maintain all service piping and appurtenances in good condition, operable and free from leaks. The customer shall repair any leaks in the service lines immediately upon discovery.
   E.   Cost: Construction and installation of all new water and sewer mains, fire hydrants, tees, valves and manholes shall be at the cost of the landowners or developers. Construction and installation of said water and sewer lines and necessary additions thereto shall be in conformance with prescribed methods as adopted by the town. A standard fee, set by the town council, shall be charged for all hookups to or extensions of any water or sewer main. Such fee shall include the cost of water lines, curb stops, standpipes, valves and sewer taps from the water main or sewer main to the property line to be served.
   F.   Town Held Harmless: It is expressly stipulated by the town and its licensees that the town shall be held harmless by reason of the breaking of any sewer line, curb cock or any accidental failure in the supply of water. (Ord. 181, 8-11-2016, eff. 9-10-2016)
