(a) An Excavation Site Safety Permit shall be required for trenching as defined in Section 901.11. A permit shall also be required for all foundation installation or repairs, underground storage tank installation or removal, and trenching or tunneling of the earth more than three feet below the surface, except for slit trenches. Each Excavation Site Safety Permit shall obligate the owner, his or her agent and contractor to comply with 29 CFR 1926 Subpart (P), other applicable OSHA rules and regulations, as well as any and all State of Ohio and/or federal laws, rules and regulations, relating to establishing safety requirements for ditching or trenching.
(b) Upon issuance of the permit by the City of Twinsburg and prior to the start of any excavation, the permit shall be displayed clearly visible on the outside of a building or structure or mounted on a post, facing a public thoroughfare where possible.
(c) The Excavation Site Safety Permit fee shall be fifty dollars ($50.00). Permits shall be obtained from the Fire Chief or his/her designee.
