CHAPTER XXV.
MISCELLANEOUS PROVISIONS
Sec. 1. Additional compensation of officers prohibited; rewards for police excepted.
No officer shall be allowed any emoluments or compensation, aside from his salary as fixed by this Charter, or by ordinance, and all fees received by him in connection with his official duties shall be paid by him into the city treasury. Provided, that any rewards received by any member of the police or other departments, for the apprehension or conviction of persons charged with crime, may be retained, except as to any part of such reward as may be provided by ordinance to accrue to the benefit of, and be paid into, the pension fund or funds.
Sec. 2. Existing offices and employees continued in office; effective date of salaries of mayor and councilmen.
The terms of all other officers in office at the time this Charter takes effect, in addition to the mayor and council, and that of all employees of the city at the time this Charter shall take effect, may continue for the term for which said officers are elected or appointed, and for the period for which said employees are employed. Provided: that the provisions of this Charter as to salaries of mayor and councilmen shall not take effect until the first Monday in January, 1931.
Sec. 3. Original employment of city manager.
The mayor and council shall, not later than the first Monday in January, 1930, employ the city manager, whose duties and powers outlined in this Charter shall be subject to the provisions of the foregoing section.
