(A) Upon order of the City Council, the Chief of Police has conducted traffic studies of specific roadways within the corporate limits and submitted recommendations to the Law Enforcement and Emergency Services Committee, and the Committee has recommended to the City Council that certain speed limits for those roadways be established and posted, as tabulated in Chapter 73, Schedule V.
(B) Signs conforming to the Illinois Department of Transportation’s Sign Manual and Specifications shall be erected along the roadways specified in Chapter 73, Schedule V advising the public of the legal speed limit on those portions of the roadways located within the city. The location of these signs shall conform to the requirements of the Illinois Department of Transportation’s Sign Manual and Specifications.
(C) Any person who disobeys the posted maximum speed limit set pursuant to this section shall be subject to the provisions of § 71.99.
