1512.01 General.
   1.   The purpose of this chapter is to regulate the planning, selling, installing, or servicing of Fire Protection Systems as defined in OFC Rule 9 in the interest of safeguarding lives and property.
   2.   It shall be unlawful for any person, firm, or corporation to advertise by means of business cards, stationery, advertisement or trade or telephone listing or otherwise indicate or represent, orally or in writing that he, they or it are in the fire protection system installation or repair business, engage in the business of servicing, repairing, recharging, testing, marking, inspecting, installing, or hydrotesting any automatic or manual system designed to protect occupants and/or buildings or structures from fire.

1512.02 Fire protection equipment certificate holder.
   1.   A fire protection certificate equipment holder is a person who has been issued a certificate by the State of Ohio Fire Marshal and satisfied the requirements of the regulations of this chapter and has been issued a fire protection systems certificate of registration in one or more of the classifications below by the Chief of the Toledo Fire Prevention Bureau authorizing such person to install, inspect, and certify new and existing fire protection equipment for conformance with the Ohio Building Code, the Ohio Mechanical Code, the Ohio Fire Code, and the standards adopted by the Toledo Fire and Rescue Department. The classifications include:
      1.1    Class A Fee $______200.00___
         Sprinkler and standpipe systems beginning at the point where the water supply is used exclusively for the fire suppression system (including any backflow preventer and private hydrants).
      1.2    Class B Fee $______200.00___
         Special hazard systems including foam, gaseous and chemical automatic fire extinguishing systems.
      1.3    Class C Fee $______200.00___
         Fire alarm/notification systems.
   2   A fire protection systems contractor is a sole proprietor, partnership, firm, limited liability company, corporation, or other entity that offers to undertake the installation, alteration, repair, testing, servicing, inspection and/or certification of fire protection equipment, or any part of such systems. Such sole proprietor, partnership, firm, limited liability company, corporation or other entity must designate a responsible managing owner and/or employee who is a fire protection equipment certificate holder and is an owner and/or a full-time employee of the sole proprietor, partnership, firm, limited liability company, corporation, or other entity.

1512.03 Application.
   1.   Every person desiring to be registered as provided for in this chapter shall file with the Toledo Fire and Rescue Department a copy of their state certification which entitles the applicant to register under the provisions of this chapter.
   2.   The fee for a certificate or license shall accompany the application thereof. In consideration of the fee the applicant, upon providing a copy of state certification, shall receive an initial certificate of registration.
   3.   Each application for certificate, license, or renewal of the same shall be accompanied with an affidavit from the person, firm, or corporation acknowledging the laws and regulations promulgated by Toledo Municipal Code Chapter 1311 and this chapter.
