2117.108 Public Employees Retirement System of Ohio
   (a)    The City will continue to participate in the Public Employees Retirement System of Ohio as provided by the Ohio Revised Code.
   (b)    Additionally, the City will implement a PERS pickup program for bargaining unit employees. This plan will be in accordance with Internal Revenue Service regulations and Ohio Attorney General opinions, whereby State and Federal Income Taxes on employee pension contributions by all bargaining unit members will be deferred.
   (c)    The City will train each payroll clerk to assist and complete forms for each person applying for disability and regular retirement. The payroll clerk's responsibilities will be limited to completion of forms.
   (d)    Effective with the first full pay period in January of 1994, the City will pay one-half percent (0.5%) of each individual employee's 8.5% pension contribution (employee payment reduced from 8.5% to 8.0%) in lieu of the employee paying the same.
   (e)    Effective with the first full pay period in January of 1995, the City will pay an additional one-half percent (0.5%) of each individual employee's pension contribution (employee payment reduced from 8.0% to 7.5%) in lieu of the employee paying the same.
   (f)    Effective with the first full pay period in January of 1996, the City will pay an additional six-tenths percent (0.6%) of each individual employee's pension contribution (employee payment reduced from 7.5% to 6.9%) in lieu of the employee paying the same.
   (g)    Effective January 1, 1997, the City will pay two and three-tenths percent (2.3%) of each individual employee's 6.9% pension contribution (employee payment reduced from 6.9% to 4.6%) in lieu of the employee paying the same.
   (h)    Effective January 1, 1998, the City will pay an additional two and three-tenths percent (2.3%) of each individual employee's pension contribution (employee payment reduced from 4.6% to 2.3%) in lieu of the employee paying the same.
   (i)    Effective January 1, 1999, the City will pay an additional two and three-tenths percent (2.3%) of each individual employee's pension contribution (employee payment reduced from 2.3% to 0.0%) in lieu of the employee paying the same.
   (j)    As to employees employed by the City on or before January 1, 2009 and effective January 1, 2009 and continuing until January 1, 2010, the City will pay one and one-half percent (1.5%) less of each individual employee's pension contribution (employee payment increased from 0% to 1.5%) thereby reducing the City's contribution. After January 1, 2010 and as to employees that were employed by the City prior to January 1, 2009, the City will pay the one and one-half percent (1.5%) on each individual employee's pension contribution (employee payment will be reduced from 1.5% to 0%).
   (k)    Effective January 1, 2009, all employees hired after January 1, 2009 will be required to pay the entire cost of their PERS employee contribution. Subsections (d) through (j) of this section shall not be applicable to employees hired after January 1, 2009.
