6-2-3: PUBLIC SAFETY; BONFIRES, FIREWORKS, GUNS:
   A.   Bonfires 1 ; Fireworks Permit: It shall be unlawful within the corporate limits of the city for any person to build bonfires in any public street, square, or on any vacant lot, or explode, set off or fire, within said limits, any firecrackers, rockets, torpedoes, toy pistols, or any fireworks and explosives whatever, without special permit therefor from the mayor. The mayor permits legal (state and federal) fireworks on a yearly basis. (1977 Code § 9.12.010)
   B.   Guns Fired Within Corporate Limits:
      1.   Prohibition: No person shall hereafter wilfully shoot or fire off a gun, pistol or any firearm within the corporate limits of the city, except as provided in subsection B2 of this section. (1977 Code § 9.12.020)
      2.   Exception: Nothing in this subsection shall be construed to embrace the firing of a gun, pistol or other firearm when done in the lawful defense of the person, property or family, or in the necessary enforcement of the law. (1977 Code § 9.12.030)
