On any potable water supply system installed in an area currently, served by, or which may be served in the future by the city’s fire department, a sufficient number of fire hydrants shall be installed by the petitioner at intervals not exceeding 600 feet from any building lot. Fire hydrants shall be dry barrel Class A type approved by the city’s Utility Service Board. Fire hydrants shall be separated from the water main by an operable valve, and shall be installed, operated and maintained in compliance with the standards of the city’s Utility Service Board. Provided that the water facilities are accepted under § 150.136 above, then the fire hydrants and their connecting facilities are part of the water system accepted.
