8-2-8: PROTECTION OF TREES:
   A.   Injury To Trees Prohibited: It shall be unlawful to injure any tree or shrub planted in any such public place. (1979 Code § 10-5-4)
   B.   Advertisements Or Notices: It shall be unlawful to attach any sign, advertisement or notice to any tree or shrub in any street, parkway, public boulevard or other public place. (1979 Code § 10-5-5)
   C.   Wires: It shall be unlawful to attach any wires or rope to any tree or shrub in any public street, parkway or other public place without the permission of the superintendent of streets and sewers. Any person or company given the right to maintain the poles and wires in the streets, alleys or other public places in the municipality shall, in the absence of provisions in the franchise concerning the subject, keep such wires and poles free from and away from any trees or shrubs in such places so far as may be possible and shall keep all such trees and shrubs properly trimmed, subject to the supervision of the superintendent of streets and sewers so that no injury shall be done either to the poles or wires or the shrubs and trees by their contact.    D.   Gas Pipes: Any person or company maintaining any gas pipe in the municipality shall, in the absence of provision in the franchise concerning the subject, keep such pipes free from leaks to prevent injury to trees or shrubs. (1979 Code § 10-5-8)
   E.   Excavations 1 : In making excavations in streets or other public places, proper care shall be taken to avoid injury to the roots of any tree or shrub whenever possible. (1979 Code § 10-5-9)
