5-4-3-1: GAMBLING:
It shall be unlawful:
   A.   Gambling Prohibited: To gamble or attend any gambling house or to make any bet, lottery or gambling hazard or to buy or sell any chances or tickets in gambling game, arrangement or device unless allowed by the laws of the state. (1979 Code §24-3-1)
   B.   Gambling Devices: To possess any gambling device or paraphernalia with the intent to use the same for an unlawful purpose, and any such device or paraphernalia kept with such intent may be confiscated by any member of the police department. (1979 Code §24-3-2)
   C.   Gambling Houses: To maintain or patronize any establishment maintained for a gambling house.
   D.   Advertising Gambling: To advertise any gambling house on any street, alley or other public place in the city. (1979 Code §24-3-4)
   E.   Gambling Activities Allowed: Nothing in this section shall be deemed to prohibit or make unlawful the following activities or forms of gambling: 1) the keeping, possession, ownership, use or playing of a video gaming terminal in a licensed establishment, licensed truck stop establishment, licensed fraternal establishment or licensed veterans' establishment, which is licensed by the Illinois gaming board to conduct or allow such specific activities under the video gaming act, 230 Illinois Compiled Statutes 40/1 et seq., and such establishment has a current and valid city of Taylorville class A-1, class C-1, class D-1, class I-1, or class J-1 liquor license; 2) a licensee, licensed by the city, to conduct a raffle in accordance with the raffles act, 230 Illinois Compiled Statutes 15/0.01 et seq.; 3) a licensee, licensed by the Illinois department of revenue, to conduct or allow bingo play in accordance with the bingo license and tax act, 230 Illinois Compiled Statutes 25/1 et seq.; or a licensee, licensed by the Illinois department of revenue, to conduct or allow gambling in accordance with the charitable games act, 230 Illinois Compiled Statutes 30/1 et seq.
