5-1-3-1: POLICE SERGEANT:
   A.   Office Created; Appointment And Number: There is hereby created the Office of Police Sergeant. There shall be three (3) Police Sergeants who shall be appointed by the Board of Police and Fire Commissioners. (Ord. 2786, 4-7-1997)
   B.   Minimum Prior Experience Required: No policeman shall be eligible for Sergeant until he or she has served a minimum of four (4) years as a police patrolman/patrolwoman with the Taylorville Police Department. (Ord. 3859, 8-20-2018)
   C.   Shifts: There shall be no more than one Police Sergeant assigned to each work shift and the Sergeants shall be under the general supervision of the Chief of Police and the Lieutenant of Police assigned to his or her work shift; and the Police Sergeant shall exercise functional supervision over all police personnel under them who are assigned to his or her respective work shifts of the Police Department.
   D.   Job Description, Qualifications, Duties And Responsibilities, Etc.: The job description, qualifications, duties and responsibilities, etc., for such Police Sergeants shall be as the City Council may determine from time to time, either prior to or subsequent to such appointment(s) as Police Sergeant. The current job description, qualifications, duties and responsibilities, etc., for such Police Sergeants shall be as set forth on exhibit A attached to ordinance 2786 on file in the Clerk's Office and incorporated herein by reference thereto.    E.   Salary: The salary for such Police Sergeant shall be based on the amount determined by the collective bargaining agreement. (Ord. 3526, 7-18-2011)
