The City Council hereby makes the following determinations:
A. The military equipment identified in Taft Police Department Policy 710 is necessary because there are no reasonable alternatives that can achieve the same objectives of officer and civilian safety.
B. The Military Equipment Use Policy, as set forth in Taft Police Department Policies and Procedures Policy 710, will safeguard the public's welfare, safety, civil rights, and civil liberties.
C. The Military Equipment Use Policy, as set forth in Taft Police Department Policy and Procedures Policy 710, is approved and adopted.
D. A copy of Taft Police Department Policy 710 may be obtained on the City of Taft website at Military Equipment Policy - Taft CA (cityoftaft.org), from the Taft Police Department or from the City Clerk. (Ord. 847-22, 7-19-2022)
