A water meter is required on every individual water supply source used for industrial or nonindustrial purposes by a person discharging sewage into the town sewer collection and treatment system. The water supply sources would include, but are not limited to, town water, county water and private well. The meters are required to determine the number of gallons of sewage generated by an individual sewer customer and discharged into the public sewer system.
