(a) Initial Appointments and Elections of Board Members; Term. The County Executive shall nominate two Board members for confirmation by County Council as soon as practicable following the effective date of this Chapter. Initial elections of the three other Board members set forth in Section 139.02(b) and (c) above shall be held and conducted as soon as practicable following the effective date of this Chapter. The Board members initially appointed and elected shall serve a term through December 31, 2017.
(b) Board Members; Appointments; Elections; Term. Following the initial appointments and elections of Board members, subsequent appointments and elections of the Board members shall be made as follows:
(1) The County Executive shall annually nominate two Board members who shall be confirmed by County Council not earlier than the first day of November and not later than the second Monday of December.
(2) Two Board members shall be annually elected on or before the second Monday in December in the manner set forth in Section 143.02 of the Ohio Revised Code.
A Board member shall serve a one year term beginning on the first day of January.
(c) Vacancy. If a vacancy occurs as a result of an appointee of the County Executive leaving the Board, the Executive shall appoint a replacement member to fill the vacancy as soon as practicable. If a vacancy occurs as a result of a member elected pursuant to subsection 139.02(b) or (c) leaving the Board, the secretary of the Board shall call a special election to elect a replacement member to fill the vacancy.
(d) Organization. The Volunteer Peace Officers' Dependents Fund Board shall be organized as set forth in Section 143.03 of the Ohio Revised Code.
